It was so much fun being able to see you guys at the skating rink! I think everyone, including the teachers, had a good time. This week's post will be a fun one. I want you to discuss how you feel about standardized testing. Do you think testing is important? Why or why not. ALSO, I want you to post your favorite moment at the skating rink. MAKE SURE YOU ANSWER BOTH TO GET CREDIT!
To be honest I don't like standarized testing . I mean they tell you that you have to learn everything in 9 months but we test way before then. So technically, we should wait till the end of the year to do testing. That way we would know more information on the test. My favorite moment from the skating rink was probably just the fact that I haven't skated since 6th grade and I was able to go out there and not fall much. I think everyone had loads of fun on this trip. Thanks for being a great teacher(:
I think standarized testing is very very important but I HATE it so much! And the fact that we had tested until 11:30!?!? we missed 4 periods! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed missing 4 classes but still, it was a days worth of teaching that we missed.
So my final conclusion on the fact of standarized testing is: BORING LONG but still IMPORTANT
i personally dont like the sat's. for one after the test you cant even read, and your in there for like three hours. try being in the class you dont like for three hours. its not fun at all. all u can do after the test is sleep. i feel like they should give the testing at the end of the year, then everyone will be more prepared for it. :)
I dont like testing...At All!!!!Does the person who came up with the question even know how to solve it??Another reason why testing is so horrible is that you have to be stuck with teachers 4 EVER!!!!!!! I mean some people got good teachers like the Mrs.Davis's and Mr.Murphy and Mrs.Gravely. But then u got the people that r stuck with Mrs.Jones .Not that there is any thing wrong with Mrs.Jones.....just that its Mrs.Jones. My favorite moment at the skating rink was watchin all the teacher bust their butts. I mean it was hilarious.I agree with Jesse about the missin class part os Sats but thats bout it. Why does everything thats important have to be so hard.
I dont like testing at all really. I agree with Erin we should take at the end of the year so we know more and we can score better on the test. My favorite part of the trip was when i got on the rink and didnt fall much, the last time i wen skating was 5 years ago. I was very supprised i didnt fall as much as i thought i would have. Also it was fun watching mrs.Jones,mrs.Gravely, and mr.Murphy skating. Had a blast.
Well i am not a bug fan about testing. However, i really actually enjoy taking the olsat because i like solving the differet kinds of ouzzles.I didnt not go on the skating field trip i was home sick,
Im right there with you maddie, I strongly dislike the standerized testing. But, i do like the OSAT>its very intersting. The testing helps the teachers out with knowing what they might need to cover or teach strongly, and helps the state with proving the teachers are teaching and doing their job, but all of our teachers did good with covering the material. It also affects the students knowing stuff for the real world. I have one question, how is some of the stuff that we are tested on, going to used for our jobs? The Field trip was blast! It was definatly one of those moments we wont forget in our golden days. My favoriate part was watching the teachers skating(funny lol!)They should have more field tripss lik that.
Becca, You are right-most things that are important are difficult to get through. The truth is, anything in life that is WORTH it will not be easy. Trust me.
Well the testing isn't easy peasy ,and i don't enjoy it AT ALL ,but it is very important that we take these test because it helps to determine what we are strong in , what we are weakest in and what classes we need and the kind of help we need to pass in the years to come. My most favorite part of the trip was dancing with the teachers and while dancing too, just being out there and having and hanging out with my friends, but overall I think I enjoyed the whole trip because I love skating and hanging out ^.^ THANK YOU TEACHERS FOR TAKING US <33
yeah testing is important. I think its important to test to see how smart you are, or to see if you belong in the rite grade. i only like the testing if it's super mega easy. otherwise i don't really like it. My favorite part of the skating ring was the part when they turned the lights off, and only the people that had glowing things could get on the skating floor. I didn't really have a glow thing though. I just skated withought one because i didn't buy one. My other favorite part is when i went to race those other two girls. i was really shoked when he just said go then tey both fell and i darted away. That was the best!
I can definatley say that I do not enjoy testing, but it is important. I can't stand the fact of having to sit down and be quite for so long. I also agree that the OLSAT is interresting. That is the first time i have ever taken a state test based soley upon common sense. I really enjoyed being able to go to the skating rink. I still have bruses on my knee's, but it was definatelly worth it when I saw the teachers trying to skate and falling.:)
I do understand that standerdized testing is importsnt but im still not a big fan. Testing is very time consuming. The thing i absolutly hate the most about testing is when over half the class finishes befor you and your sittin there trying to do your best and take your time and the class is staring you down like a hawk. Hace you ever tried to do a test when people are staring at you?? It doesn't help.
My favorite part of going skating probably has to be watching everybody fall on there butts. (including me) hehe! :)
to be honest i think testing is really stupid, BUT still very important and i dont see why we had to use up 2 weeks just to do it. and the fieldtrip was stinkin awsome but i dont like this blister that the skates gave me:}
I actually enjoy testing it not only allows me to get out of class but it lets me prove that I was actually learning when the teachers were teaching. It lets me to look forward to something and makes me feel like I (and all the teachers) didn't waste my time by coming to school everyday we helped ourselves and the teachers. I'm just glad that all our hard work didn't go to waste. On the OSAT I'm surprised that I actually finished all those problems and worked them out the way I wanted to. I was extremely proud of myself. I didn't get to go to the skating rink because I was really sick. I have been before and it was a blast and not only that what everyone is saying about Mr. Murphy not being able to skate gives me an image and I enjoy it even though I didn't go. Well g2g thanks. ♥ Stephanie
Testing is important because helps you in the future. Even though it was long I feel for the 7th graders. My favorite moment at the skating rink was skating into Corey while we were talking it was hilarious you had to be there
To be honest i hate taking standerdized testing, but it is very important in many ways. There is times when it is stupid but then there are times that is is very helpful in everyway. Then my favorite part was skating. It was so much fun to get out there and hang out with your friends. The funniest part was watching you and your friends fall. That was a great time we had. ♥Christyn
I REALLY HATE Standardized testing but t really leats me know what do and don't know! My favorite is the olsat....i wish that was the only thing we had to do.....
Becca: Take it from somebody who has Mr. Murphy from testing and believe me when I say,"IT STINKS!!!!" He is so annoying and he wouldn't even let us talk without getting mad at us and counting down.
I personally testing is important because, hopefully, we are going to use this stuff when we get older. However, I don't like it because it is stupid, and I can't help but feel that every question is a trick question. It makes me so confused. Oh but I do like the Olsat. That one was fun. As to your skating question, I had a blast at the skating rink, and my favorite part was when I fell on my rear because Marshall Wall pushed some weird guy into me. Also I had a good time just talking to my friends about whatever.
I think testing is important because it helps you figure out what you will do in your next grade and what you can accomplish. i also think that it teaches you a little more than you already know.
Skating was a lot of fun. My favorite thing about the skating was playing tag and chasing people even though I fell.
uhhhhh the tests were sooooo long and BORING!!!!!!!!!!!! But, they are important because they remind us of what we have or should have learned over the course of our school year.
My most and least favorite part about the skating trip was the tag game. I couldnt believe that i was one of the last ones left and i fell.>.<
I believe the standarized testing serves some kind of importance that many people plus myself fail to see.Why must we get labled on how we do on these test that only took over 2 weeks of our long school year, and not the work we actually do during the school year. We should get judge on how we either proggressed, or worsten during the course of the school year. But hey, thats just my opinion. I try to see some kind of importance of these tests, but I can't. My favorite moment at the skating rink was either the look on the ladys face when a small group of teenage kids order two whole pizzas and devoured then im less then 5 minutes, how hilarious Murphy looked skating around all the students, or Ms. Jones and Ms. Gravelys "dance moves". Take your pick.
My name is Megan. I am 23 years old, and I graduated from Robertsdale High School in 2005.I am a senior at the University of South Alabama where I am wrapping up my dual degrees in English and Secondary Education. I am student teaching the Spring semester 2010 at CBMS. I graduate May 8th! I am married and have two dogs (Crockett and Levi) who are both mini dox, and two bunny rabbits (Lucy and Ashes).

ReplyDeleteYeah John, i actually was playing with an eraser for 2 hours!!! have you ever played with an eraser for 2 hours!? it gets pretty boring!

I think testing is very important, but yet it takes a very long time to do. Mostly everything was easy except the math part. I think i did alright.
ReplyDeletemy favorite part of going to the skating rink. probably had to be watching kourtney try skating haha, (:

I think that testing gives you a chance to show the board what you have learned and gives ou a chance to shine as a student!!
ReplyDeleteAbout the skating thing...
i think that my favorite moment was watching mrs. jones skate(sorr mrs. jones)but it was FUNNY...
I think testing is important because it helps you figure out what you will do in your next grade and what you can accomplish. i also think that it teaches you a little more than you already know.
