~*Poetry*~

I know that all of the information you have recieved on poetry seems overwhelming, however it is great information for you that I wish I would have had before I entered high school. I personally love reading and writing poetry. It is an outlet for me that lets me get my feelings and ideas on paper and turn it into my own "Heart Art." What is your outlook on poetry? Do you enjoy reading it or writing it? Why or why not? You may also upload one of your own original poems if you wish. ENJOY!

  1. Me personally I love poetry. I love writing it, reading it, and even helping a friend finish it. Poetry is a way for me to express myself. I feel better when I finish a really long poem. It lets me unleash all my problems and create a master piece. What I love most about writing poems is that I can escape to a different place away from reality. I love all my poems but my favorite out of all the ones I've written would actually be the one I wrote for the Holocaust project.
    Thanks

  3. This is a poem that I wrote a few years ago. It means a lot to me, and it only took me a few minutes to write it. ENJOY!

    WARM TEARS

ALWAYS I HAVE HELD BACK FROM SHEDDING MY TEARS,
NEVER ALLOWING ANYONE TO SEE MY PAIN AND MY FEARS.
ALWAYS HAVING TO BE STRONG FOR EVERYONE ELSE,
HIDING THAT I COULDNT BE STRONG FOR MYSELF.
TEARS SHED IN THE SHOWER WHERE NO ONE CAN HEAR.
TEARS SHED WHEN IM BROKEN, MY HEART PIERCED WITH A SPEAR.
TEARS SHED ON MY PILLOW AS I DRIFT OFF TO DREAM.
TEARS SHED IN THE DARK SO THEY CANT BE SEEN.
TEARS SHED WHEN IM ALONE AND IN SO MUCH PAIN.
TEARS SHED IN MY DREAMS, THEY FALL LIKE THE RAIN.
    I CRY WHEN IM LONELY.
    I CRY WHEN IM SAD.
    I CRY WHEN IM SORRY.
    I CRY WHEN IM MAD.
I CRY WHEN I READ CERTAIN BOOKS,
    OR HEAR A FAMILIAR SONG.
    AND WHEN WATCHING CERTAIN MOVIES,
    ILL CRY ALL NIGHT LONG.
IT SEEMS I ALWAYS CRY AT NEGATIVE THEMES,
BUT NOW NEW TEARS POUR OUT OF ME.
    TEARS THAT ARE NOT SCARED.
    TEARS THAT ARE NOT ALONE.
TEARS THAT DONT FALL LIKE A DEPRESSING STORM.
THESE TEARS ARE DIFFERENT, THESE TEARS ARE WARM.
I CRY NOW WHEN IM HAPPY,
    WHEN I HEAR HIS VOICE.
I CRY RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM,
MY EYES LEAVE ME NO CHOICE.
TEARS FALL WHEN IM WITH HIM.
    TEARS FALL WHEN HE'S AWAY.
TEARS FALL WHEN I LEAVE HIM,
TEARS FALL WHEN I CAUSE HIM PAIN.
TEARS FALL WHEN HE TOUCHES ME,
    SO GENTLE AND SO TRUE.
TEARS FALL WHEN HE LOOKS AT ME,
AND TELLS ME "I LOVE YOU."
I CANNOT HIDE MYSELF FROM HIM,
HE SEES RIGHT THROUGH MY SMILE.
WHEN HE KNOWS IM NOT OK,
    HE LISTENS FOR A WHILE.
HE LISTENS TO EVERY WORD I SAY,
AND LETS ME HAVE MY PEACE.
AND EVEN IF MY STORY'S BAD,
HE FORGIVES ME WITH SWEET EASE.
HE LISTENS TO ME WHEN IM HAPPY,
OR IF I HAVE HAD A BAD DAY.
AND IF A TEAR SHOULD SLOWLY FALL,
    HE'D KISS THEM ALL AWAY.
I COULD NEVER BE AFRAID OF HIM,
HE KEEPS ME SAFE, HEART AND ALL.
AND IF A WARM TEAR FINDS MY CHEEK,
ILL SMILE AND LET IT FALL.

  4. Poety is very emotional, and gets to you. I really enjoy reading and writing poetry. I have written several small poems mself mrs foy. They dont follow a rhyme sceme but i was smaller.

    I used to be tiny,
    But now I am tall.

    I used to have diapers,
    Now I have pants.

    If I were a Genie,
    I’d wish for a horse.

    I’d used to think maybe,
But now I know for sure.

    I would like green,
But I would not like purple.

When I grow up I want to be a veterinarian,
    But maybe a teacher.

A good friend is like Marissa,
    And Erin and Alexis too.

  6. I, for one, love poetry. I have always found it a good way for someone, even myslef, to let out feelings that are hard to naturally say or just write. I love the way every word and every stanza fits perfectly with the next, like its meant to be. Poetry can be anything. It can be happy, sad, joyful, deppressing, etc. and you can just spill it out and form something absoultly beautiful. Whats amazingly wondeful about it is being able to relate it to your own life in some way. And I love the rhytm when I read it. Its like, you cant help it. And whenever I catch myslef reading it, and I have this certian tone or break in my voice, I get filled with this wonderful feeling. Poetry, to me, is like a story being told beautifully in perfect words, all shooting through me like nothng ever has before. I can just go on and on about my love for poetry, and writing it myself, but Im probbably boring everyone.

  7. i write alot of poetry, it helps me when im stressed, or just to tell people how i feel, i really think that poetry is the best form of writing there is. and i also think that more people should write poetry, there arent many known american poets as there were in the 1800s or earlier than that, i guess because they didnt have tv, and other stuff that we use today. we use so much technology, that hardly anyone writes poetry now, and if they do, its never published. im probablly boring all of you, but i think there should be a class, or something so more people will be interested in it. or an organization on the gulf coast, or something, i think that alot of people would be interested in it, than people think they would. also alot of people think that you have to be a girl to write poetry, i dissagree, i think anyone and everybody can write poetry, just because you write poetry, doesnt make you a sissy, or a weakling, or anything like that. i think it tells people that you have character and a good state of mind.

  8. I love poetry personally, even though it makes it hard for me to express my feelings in anything other than writing. Poetry gives me a world where I can think and act as i please. i find myslef peacful and carefree when reading poetry.

  13. Im kinda stuck in the middle about poetry. I mean I love reading stuff thats uplifting and doesnt bring you down. But in a way poetry is about life and not all things in life are good, but why mope about the bad? I know that what im saying kinda sounds inmature but.... It's kinda hard for me to get into some poetry because i cant relate to it. Like i dont know how to feel as they did.Ya'lls poems are really good though. I love fun poems!!!!

  14. What ii said earlier doesnt really make any sense so to clarify:Some poems just bring you down and others lift you up. I would rather read something that would lift me up ten bring me down. Some poems are about life, and not all things in life are happy.....but why mope about it?

  16. here is an excert from ANNEBEL LEE: BY EDGAR ALLEN POE

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
    By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.
I was a child and she was a child,
    In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love
    I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
    Coveted her and me.

  17. I WROTE THIS POEM NOT TO LONG AGO

    THE GAME OF LIFE

life is a game, and u can never win or lose.
life is like a puzzle missing pieces.
    life.....
    its hard to explain.
you never no what road to choose, or what path to take.
its all about choices and the thing you do.
life is like a game, that has no off switch.
has no extra lifes, or powerups.
life is the hardest game u will ever play, and it is ur choice of how u play it.
    LIFE

  18. Oh John, I am secretly in love with Edgar Allan Poe-I guess it is no longer a secret now, huh? I love his poetry! Many of his poems are sad though so Becca, you may want to stay away from him. However, I also LOVE Alfred Lord Tennyson. Most of his poems are about life, and love.

  23. Poetry isn't my favorite thing ever but I do like it. I like to write limericks and cinquains even though mine stink. I just think it's fun. I don't care to write poetry because I am not exactly the most creative person in the world...or in my family. Also because I don't like to think and I am to lazy. But it has been fun because I didn't ever know so many poetry terms nor types of poems. I feel smarter and more educated because of this study. Thanks Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Foy!!!!!!!
